Android Netrunner

Hey card flippers (all four of you) :D, If you haven't already, you should check out this LCG, its pretty sweet and starting to become obscenely popular (like a 300 man tourny at gencon selling out of spots in a matter of minutes).

It basically mixes MTG (since the original game was designed by garfield) with poker aspect such as bluffing and an excellent risk/reward mechanic.

I've heard of the game before, but nothing more than the name.

I may just check it out!

That looks interesting. And I bet it's cheaper than MTG, lol.

It's an LCG, so fixed availability and prices...no rarities. The $40 base set gets you playable decks, tokens, rules, etc. Expansions are fixed sets, three of each card (the max you can have per deck) for $15. One jumbo expansion came out, which is effectively three regular expansions for the price of two.

Is that cheaper than Magic?

I am actually kinda interested in this, since I played Netrunner when it was still a CCG instead of a LCG. I gave up on the CCG addiction, so this one coming back is something that makes me think.

Last night the first A:NR tournament for OCC was held with 12 people attending (Most new and just starting out). All in all it was a great event hosted by Chris Peerson.

$5 entry and everyone who signed up got a scorched earth promo card

winner got a choice between a limited edition A:NR playmat or the promo kate card
Second got what first didn't pick
Sportsmanship was broken into two catagories
Most fun Runner deck got a kate promo card
Most fun Corp deck got 2 scorched earth promo cards (to complete their set)

Atmosphere was a good mix of competitive and fun, so if you are thinking about getting into A:NR i'd say now is a good time to start.

Thanks for the review! I don't know the first thing about this game but when I get a chance I'll watch someone play it and see if it piques my interest.

So locally we are still looking for players for Android:Netrunner. Two things; we have a Facebook associated with this game called Lacey's Netrunners to help setup meet ups. Two, Gabi reserved a store championship kit with prizes for everyone. This will be available early 2014, here is a link for picture prizes;

and if your interested in learning about the game if you see a tall guy wearing a Dolphins jacket thats me and would be glad to show anyone how the game works.
