Green/White Midrange

Postby Purgatus » Tue Nov 13, 2012 9:22 am

I'm working on putting this deck together:

I am looking for the Silverblade Paladins, another two Thragtusks, and another Armada Wurm.

Also feedback on the deck.

I typed up this great, well thought-out response to the OTHER thread... I clicked "submit" just after the thread was deleted, so this one will be more to the point, lol.

I would replace Call of the Conclave with Restoration Angel. Additional flicker effects would make this deck quite a bit more powerful (and annoying). CotC is great with populate effects, but as you dont have any I think Resto Angel wins out here.

Resto Angel is a great card, no doubt, but I have goldfished this deck to death and find that sometimes - not always but often enough, I get stuck without a mana dork and a drop on turn two with nothing to cast and no creatures on the board. Against an aggro deck having an empty board until turn 3 is death. The Call of the Conclave is essentially only there to have a turn 2 drop that will slow down zombies or RDW.

That's probably the sideboard slot of choice though, so I can build resto-angel into the board. Resto angel is another expensive card though.

Yeah resto angel is spendy. Maybe add 2 at the expense of 2 CotC? they you still have dome 2-drops.

I have a Resto Angel for trade, if you have any decent izzet cards, and I'm also looking for cyclonic rifts and dreadbores.

Ahah! The truth comes out!

"Hey, I think you REALLY need some Resto angels here."

"Hmmm, I'm not sure, it's pretty high CMC for this deck, and it's expensive, etc."

"No, really, you need a resto angel"

"Well... maybe..."

"I have a resto angel. Give me all your loots."

Hey it's doing quite well in my Kaalia EDH deck, but I need a spot for Avacyn in there so I'd be willing to sacrifice it for a trade ;)

But really, I think 2 resto angels would do this deck nothing but good. More flicker AND more flying, what's not to like?

Actually think I want to put in two copies of Conjurer's Closet instead. Lots cheaper, and better in some ways (worse in others, but I think it will work).

Flickering Thragtusks or Armada Wurms or Silverblade Paladins every turn (swing with a Double Striking angel, then flicker and give double strike to an untapped blocker?)... or flicker a basic land off a ranger every turn.

Yeah, I'll take two.
