Golgori?

Postby Kingpin » Wed Oct 31, 2012 2:10 pm

So I have been reading up on the new set and I like the look of green/black a lot but I feel it will have a real hard match up vs anything with blue in it. I was just wondering if anyone has tried them out and could lend some advice?

Ed plays Golgari and regularly beats my izzet deck (red/blue). If you play against control decks it can be a tough matchup, but B/G aggro decks are very good in general.

Can you post a rough decklist? Then I can make suggestions. Dreg Mangler, Lotleth Troll, and Vampire Nighthawk are all really strong creature cards. Abrupt Decay is also a very versatile (albeit expensive) card.

I don't have a deck yet. I have picked up a bunch of cards from my brother. He bought a whole box and doesn't use black or green. So I just borrowed/stole his cards.

My card break down something like this
2x Corpsejack menace
2x Deathright Shaman
Jarad, lichlord
Necropolis Regent
2x Dreg Mangler
2x Sluiceway Scorpion
2x Sewer Shambler
2x Trestle Troll
2x Gatecreeper Vine
2x Axebane Guardian
2x Druids Deliverance
2x Launch party
2x Stab wound
2x Grisly Salvage
Deadbrigde Goliath
2x Daggerdrome Imp
2x Golgori Charm
2x Golgori Keyrune
2x Golgori gates

So I am really lacking a lot of the cards I want and also I would like a couple more of some of the cards I already have.

That is an excellent start to a Golgari deck, though. You have 2 Deathrite Shamans? Thats a $10 card, if i'm not mistaken.

Yeah I have bought a few packs and things. One of the shamans is mine and the other is my brothers. The Nacropolis Regent is also mine. I also pulled a steam vent but I gave it to my brother because I am using all of his cards.

I gave the steam vents up for store credit mang... :(

I need a couple more gravecrawlers and I will be pretty much all set.

It's all good, I didn't really have what you were looking for anyway.

Gravecaller is such a good one-drop, every B/G aggro deck should have 4. Most B/R aggro decks should too, if they have other zombies in there.

So, in the deck abbreviations, how do you tell the difference between Black and Blue?

Black is "B", while Blue is always "U". Not sure who came up with that, but it is universally recognized.
