Hive Tyrant WIP

Postby wbwalker88 » Sat Apr 11, 2015 5:17 pm

It all started with me just trying to add a tail to increase the size of the old school hive tyrant (to make him the same height as the new one with wings), and has turned into a complete revamp where the only two pieces from the original model are the torso and head. It's the appropriate size now, but by gosh has it been a pain. I've had to re-pin everything twice to include pinning the items on the scenic base down, I've dropped the model twice (breaking all of the joints), and just to add insult to injury I drilled a hole into my table on accident (wife is not happy). Anyway, it looks badass and I'm excited to find wings for this bad boy and get it on the table.

There is no evil here… just the consumption of worlds, that is all…

Kinda jelly... never did good with the green stuff, that and I'm too timid to hack up good models.

Looking forward to seeing that badboy with some paint :)

You'll have to wait until next week when I get back into town, but it's coming along. Finished priming and going to start painting next week while I strip 100 terma/horma gaunts to be reprimed.

May need some tips on painting a rusty rebar effect for the pins sticking up.

Also thanks for the compliments, definitely a huge leap of faith in this model as I've never done this much conversion work before. Been a unique challenge and a ton of fun to see it come together.

We should rent Conan the Barbarian, and do what we did last time: Painting slumber party. That was fun. I got that entire jet painted in one night. Wa very pleased.

Updated pictures of my WIP. Still need to touch up the ink in some areas and I have a lot of highlighting to do as well as finish the base. He is coming along nicely though!
