OFCC Eldar

Postby Chexmix » Wed Mar 01, 2017 6:34 pm

Hey guys!

I always paint up a new army for each OFCC... and this year is no exception! I plan on taking a "3rd edition style" Eldar army. No Scatterbikes, no Wraithknights, etc. Every model is going to be the old school sculpt. How long has it been since you've seen metal Wraithguard? :D

I wanted to play with lots of Guardians so Ulthwe it is! Here is my list:

Craftworld Eldar – Combined Arms Detachment

Farseer - The Spirit Stone of Anath’lan, Witchblade, Warlord - 115
Warlock Conclave -3 Warlocks with Witchblade, 2 Warlocks with Singing Spear – 185

10 Guardian Defenders – Bright Lance Platform – 110
10 Guardian Defenders – Shuriken Cannon Platform – 105
10 Storm Guardians – 2 Fusion Blasters – 110
Wave Serpent – Twin-Linked Scatter Laser, Shuriken Cannon - 125

5 Wraithguard – Wraithcannons -160

10 Swooping Hawks – Exarch with Hawk's Talon – 180

Wraithlord – 2 Shuriken Catapults, Bright Lance – 140
Fire Prism – 125
Falcon – Scatter Laser - 125

Craftworld Eldar – Ulthwe Strike Force
Webway Assault: A unit composed entirely of models with this special rule can be set up in Deep Strike Reserves instead of deploying with the rest of your army. When they arrive from Deep Strike Reserves, they will not scatter, but no model in the unit can be placed within 9" of any enemy models. Desperate Times, Desperate Measures: All units in this Detachment have the Stubborn and Preferred Enemy special rules if the enemy army contains any units from the following Factions: Chaos Space Marines, Chaos Daemons, Khorne Daemonkin and Renegade Knights. If this Detachment contains four units, its units can roll to arrive from Deep Strike Reserve from turn 1.

10 Black Guardians – Shuriken Pistols and Close Combat Weapons, 2 Fusion Blasters – 130
10 Black Guardians – Shuriken Pistols and Close Combat Weapons, 2 Fusion Blasters – 130
Black Guardian War Walkers – 2 War Walkers with 2 Scatter Lasers - 130
Black Guardian War Walkers – 2 War Walkers with 2 Scatter Lasers - 130

Total: 2,000

Is it sufficiently terrible? Would you like to see this list across the table in a friendly game? I know Eldar are a difficult army to make "fun", but I think this list has a great combination of fluff and lack of optimization.

I dig it. I think it would be a fun fight for my Death Guard when I finally get the army together.
Matt should be around here somewhere...lurking...

Its OFCC dude. Not a real tournament. Themes are in. Last year it was LITERALLY a painting competition based on how they scored(which...was...stupid.... but it does illustrate the point that winning means jack)

And joe? I'm just making a recommendation to him. Aeldari is a pretty fluffy army anyways.

I thought about playing Aeldari but I didn't want to complicate the army with Soulburst actions. I already have a lot of psychic powers and don't want my turns taking longer then they have to.

Plus I really want this army to feel like a 4rd/4th ed Eldar army, which definitely didn't have Soulburst! I appreciate the suggestion though. I really like how Aeldari play, and Soulburst seems very powerful. The Ulthwe Strike Force can't be taken in the Aeldari detachment anyway.

@Kingpin, once you get your OFCC list assembled you should hit me up for a practice game! I have everything I need for this list, except for the metal Wraithguard. Nothing is painted yet lol.
